Cohort 01 · February 2027

A newgeneration ofpartnership.

GULF×AFRICA

A curated platform connecting exceptional young leaders across the Gulf and Africa to exchange knowledge, build relationships and create cross-border opportunities.

Powered by the ecosystem of GAIN — Gulf Africa Investment Nexus

The four pillars

GULFAFRICAGULFAFRICAGULFAFRICAGULFAFRICAGULFAFRICAGULFAFRICA
01The human corridor

Capital moves. People should too.

The Gulf and Africa are already connected. The people are not.

Trade, investment, technology and infrastructure link the two regions more closely every year. But the relationships that make those corridors genuinely valuable are built by people — and that infrastructure does not exist yet. The Exchange builds it.

The commercial corridor

Already mature. Built at speed, and still accelerating.

The human corridor

Not yet built. This is what the Exchange exists to create.

The consequence

Talent on both sides working next to each other rather than with each other.

02Why Gulf × Africa

Complementarity, not charity.

Two dynamic regions. Different strengths. Shared possibilities. Neither side of this page is the donor and neither is the recipient.

Africa brings

  • 01Talent and demographics
  • 02Markets and growth
  • 03Entrepreneurship
  • 04Creativity and culture
  • 05Natural resources
  • 06Emerging solutions
  • 07Innovation at frontier cost

Complementarity

Two dynamic regions. Different strengths. Shared possibilities.

The UAE brings

  • 01Global connectivity
  • 02Capital and infrastructure
  • 03Technology and institutions
  • 04International market access
  • 05Regulatory and logistics capability
  • 06A globally connected business environment
  • 07Convening power
03The evidence

The relationship is already real.

Capital corridors are being built at speed. The demographic weight is unambiguous. Every figure below carries its source, because institutions verify. Figures below are UAE-specific — the UAE is the largest Gulf investor in Africa.

04The Exchange model

The Forum is the convergence. The Exchange is the engine.

A year-round programme, not a three-day event. Cohorts convene, masterminds work, labs produce, and the strongest of it converges in November.

  1. 01

    Curate

Selection on evidence of something built, led or shipped. 30–40 people per cohort, not a hall.

  2. 02

    Connect

Relationships first. Participants arrive briefed, matched and already scheduled to meet.

  3. 03

    Exchange

Knowledge moves both ways: ecosystems, markets, methods, and the cultural intelligence to work across them.

  4. 04

    Mastermind

Small rooms of eight to twelve, working a real problem one of them actually owns.

  5. 05

    Collaborate

Ideas become proposals with a named owner and a next step that survives the flight home.

  6. 06

    Continue

    The 30 / 90 / 180 / 365-day engine keeps the relationships working after everyone leaves.

  7. 07

    Converge

The strongest work and relationships of the year meet at the Grand Forum.

06Masterminds

Small rooms. Serious people. Practical outcomes.

Eight to twelve people working a real problem that one of them actually owns. No panel, no audience.

01

Enterprise & Investment

Market entry, structuring, capital and the practical mechanics of trading across the corridor.

02

Technology & Innovation

AI, tooling, data and deployment — what it takes to build from either region and ship to both.

03

Creative Economy

Intellectual property, distribution and export for creative businesses working across borders.

04

Future of Work & Talent

Cross-border talent, remote enterprise, credential portability and career mobility.

05

Sustainability & Climate

Technology, finance and delivery for climate and urban infrastructure in both regions.

06

Education & Human Capital

Skills, mobility and institutional partnership between universities and employers.

08The signature mechanism

The Collaboration Lab.

Real challenges. Diverse minds. Practical collaboration.

Selected participants work in cross-regional teams on real challenges rather than sitting through panels. Teams of 10–12, enforced cross-regional and cross-sector composition, one institutional mentor and one facilitator each. No Lab team is single-country.

Every Lab moves through

  1. 01

    Challenge

A real, named problem brought by an institution or a participant — not a hypothetical.

  2. 02

    Ideas

Teams of 10–12, cross-regional and cross-sector by design. No team is single-country.

  3. 03

    Collaboration

One institutional mentor, one facilitator, two working sessions across days one and two.

  4. 04

    Proposed action

A pathway that can survive the flight home, with a named owner attached to it.

  5. 05

    Named partner

The institution or individual who carries it forward, identified in the room.

  6. 06

    Next step

Fed directly into the Dubai Commitment and tracked publicly at 90, 180 and 365 days.

Six Labs for Edition One

Market entry, corporate structuring, capital and licensing across the UAE–Africa corridor.

04Society

Sustainable Cities & Climate

Technology, finance and delivery for urban and climate infrastructure in both regions.

The senior counterpart

The closed session

Running in parallel on day two: a closed 25-person session under Chatham House rules — institutional principals plus eight elected Lab representatives.

It receives the Lab outputs and converts them into the institutional commitments that make up the Dubai Commitment. The Labs generate the substance. The closed room converts it into signature. Neither works alone.

06Who we bring together

Different experiences. Shared ambition.

100–120 emerging leaders in a room with the institutions that can act on what they bring. Not 500 young people in a hall — 150 people who each have something to contribute.

  • Government
  • Development finance
  • Corporates
  • Investors
  • Universities
  • Foundations
  • NGOs and youth organisations
  • Technology companies

05The five principles

Five commitments, each with a constraint attached.

A principle that cannot be violated by a specific decision is decoration. Each of these can be, which is what makes them real.

01
Partnership over patronage

Young Africans and young people in the UAE are participants and co-creators, not beneficiaries and benefactors.

The constraint

Every delegate is selected on contribution, not need. No participant is described as a beneficiary in any Forum material. No partner receives recognition framed as generosity.

02
Opportunity over rhetoric

Every significant conversation should lead somewhere practical.

The constraint

Every session produces an artefact — a commitment, a match, a Lab output, or a documented input to the Dubai Commitment. Sessions that cannot name their artefact are cut from the programme.

03
Exchange over extraction

Knowledge, capital, talent, culture and innovation move in both directions.

The constraint

Every panel includes voices from both regions. Every pillar has an African lead and a UAE-based lead. Perception shift is measured in both directions in the exit survey.

04
Collaboration over geography

Cross-border collaboration should be normal rather than exceptional.

The constraint

Collaboration Labs are composed with enforced cross-regional mixing. No Lab team is single-country.

05
Continuity over convening

The Forum is the beginning of relationships, not the end of them.

The constraint

The 30/90/180/365-day engine is staffed and budgeted before the Forum opens, not after it closes. Fellows are inducted in the room, not selected afterwards.

07The experience

Designed around outcomes, not an agenda.

Most of the value is created before anyone arrives and after everyone leaves. The Exchange is built on that assumption.

Day one

The case, the complementarity, and the first Lab working session. Keynote conversations that pair the two regions rather than alternating them.

Day two

Second Lab session, mentorship exchange, enterprise connections, and the closed 25-person session that converts Lab outputs into institutional commitments.

Day three

Lab outputs presented with named owners. The Dubai Commitment signed and published. Fellows inducted in the room.

Throughout

Every session carries a defined artefact. Cultural programme built with practitioners from both regions.

12The ecosystem

Two corridors, one relationship.

GAIN

The commercial corridor

Investment, enterprise, capital and economic connectivity between the Gulf and Africa. Markets, market access and the infrastructure of trade.

The Exchange

The human corridor

People, talent, ideas, leadership and the relationships that make the commercial corridor usable by the generation who will inherit it.

Cohort 01 · February 2027

The future will not be built in isolation.

From connection to collaboration. Edition One convenes 150–200 selected participants in Dubai, and opens a platform that runs the other 362 days of the year.
